We are releasing the Canton IDE and its free for everyone to use
current canton dev experience is not really good as we all know
we took it upon ourselves to fix that and this is us trying
all we ask is your support, try it share it tell us whats broken
also created a telegram channel for canton devs where you can ask questions and ill be pushing all updates on our upcoming tools and releases there (alot of things in the pipeline)
just trying to build a better dev ecosystem for canton
While I may not agree with your statement “little to no proper tooling”, I think the webIDE looks slick, well done and thank you for building it!
I’d also recommend using the official Canton dev channels on Slack or Discord where you’ll find a lot of the core devs and contributors. If you want a TG dev channel, I’d recommend asking in one of those existing ones whether the Foundation would be willing to create one.
Echoing Bernhard, we love seeing developers take the initiative to build tools for the ecosystem. The IDE looks great.
Improving the developer experience is our top priority. The official channels like Slack or Discord would be a great place to share the things you’re building and get feedback from the community. I noticed you’re on Slack so I’ve also just invited you to the appdev slack channel.
We’re working on improving our documentation and I’d love to give you a preview of what we have, to get your feedback. Will drop you a DM with the preview link. When this rolls out over the next few weeks, it should be a significant step up for our developer experience.
