Splice 0.6.1 (not an SV), do you see any hard upgrade window or deadline?

For a regular Validator upgrading to Splice 0.6.1 (not an SV), do you see any hard upgrade window or deadline beyond “do not upgrade before April 28”?

Specifically:

  • Is upgrading after April 30 still fine?

  • Does the April 30 Validator Liveness Rewards = 0 milestone imply any technical need to upgrade before/on that date?

  • If a validator wants to wait a bit (e.g. until backup/dump handling is cleaner), is that considered okay?

Just trying to confirm there’s no hidden coordinated window or requirement I’m missing. Thanks.

Validator Operations questions are more appropriate for one of the Slack-based validator operations channels operated by the Foundation.
Simple answer to your question is that the Super Validators expect all Validators to automate their deployment and upgrade every week, usually on Tuesdays. The SVs regularly introduce Daml model changes in the Splice apps (Canton Coin, CNS) that will desynchronize your node if you don’t upgrade weekly.
